Gandalf the Grey

“All that the unsuspecting Bilbo saw that morning was an old man with a staff. He had a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, a silver scarf over which his long white beard hung down below his waist, and immense black boots.”

What I enjoy about Tolkien’s writing is that everything seems so vivid, yet vague enough that anyone could have their own take on what he describes. That said, here’s my version of Gandalf the Grey. People rarely seem to give him his silver scarf in their interpretations.
